The mistake almost every menu QR code makes

- A price changes. Supplier costs move, you adjust a price — and now every printed code is technically still "correct" but the PDF behind it is stale until someone remembers to swap the file, and even then a static code pointed at a file that got renamed or moved just breaks.
- A dish sells out or gets pulled. Seasonal items rotate, a supplier runs short, a dish gets retired — with a static setup, the fix is either an awkward "86'd" verbal correction from staff every single time, or reprinting.
- Specials change daily or weekly. If your specials board is meant to change often, a code that can't be repointed just isn't the right tool for it — you end up maintaining a second system alongside it.
- The menu structure changes. A new dinner menu, a seasonal relaunch, a rebrand — with static codes, that's new codes on every table tent, every window sticker, every printed card, all at once.
None of that is a QR code problem. It's a static QR code problem — and table tents specifically make it worse, because they're one of the more expensive, more durable, more annoying-to-reprint pieces of a restaurant's printed material.
What a dynamic menu code actually fixes

A few practical printing notes
A couple of things matter more for table tents specifically than for most other printed QR codes:
- Size and distance. A code read from a seated position at arm's length needs to be noticeably larger than one held close — aim generous rather than minimal, especially on a table tent viewed from across the table.
- Contrast. Dark code on a light background scans far more reliably than the reverse, and laminate glare can make a low-contrast code miss on the first attempt.
- Keep the quiet zone. Leave clear space around the code itself — logos, borders, or decorative elements crowding right up against it are one of the most common reasons a printed code fails to scan.
